The Butterfly Children Fundraiser

Tyrepower Werribee is partnering up with Debra.org.au for the month of May to help raise funds and awareness for people suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Tyrepower Werribee will be doing 4 selected offers for a gold coin donation and $10 for every Vitora tyre sold for the entire month of May 2016.

What is EB?

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare disease whereby the skin blisters and peels at the slightest touch. Living with EB has been likened to living with third degree burns. It is very painful, and sufferers must be bandaged every day with dressings to protect and medicate their wounds.

EB is characterised by skin fragility with blister formation occurring spontaneously or following minor trauma. EB can be broadly divided into three major categories: Simplex, Junctional and Dystrophic. These categories can be further subtyped based on inheritance and clinical features.

It is estimated that there are around 1,000 people in Australia who have some form of EB and over 500,000 worldwide. It occurs in all racial and ethnic groups and affects males and females equally. EB may not always be evident at birth. Milder cases of EB may become apparent when a child crawls, walks, runs or when young adults become more physically active.

How can you help?

Debra has little to no support from the Australian Government and relies heavily on businesses and people like yourself for donations.

Debra offers the following with your donations -

$50 Will provide a new family with some essentials when first diagnosed

$100 Will provide a Family support worker and in home visit

$200 Will supply specialised wound care products not covered by the government

$500 Will provide 1 week’s home assistance with bathing & dressing changes

$1000 Will provide 1 week’s funding for an EB specialist nurse
